Consultation feedback for the Care Quality Commission
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) carried out a public consultation from 8 October to 11 December 2025 on improving how it assesses and rates health and care providers.
The 2 areas of focus in the consultation 'Better regulation, better care' were on CQC's proposals to:
Improve and develop frameworks and guidance for assessing providers
Change its methods for making judgements and awarding quality ratings to health and care services.
CQC commissioned TONIC to analyse the feedback received through responses to an online survey and through in-person engagement events throughout England that involved health and care providers, the public, members of CQC staff and other stakeholders.
The resulting comprehensive reports provide detailed analysis of the feedback received across the consultation.
